Say hello to smart and spunky Sierra!

Little Sierra was found as a stray and brought to a local shelter, when no one came to claim her BTR was able to secure her quick release to a great foster home with a volunteer from the Redwood Belgian Tervuren Club.

She is approximately 5.5 months and is being fostered in California.

She would do best in an experienced working home, ideally someone who will work her. Sierra's a really wonderful girl -- happy and totally environmentally stable and social yet focused and wants to work, smart as a whip -- but she's also, to put it mildly, "a handful”.

Sierra would make a great working dog (for example, SAR) She can ignore environmental stimuli, she's super-stable (bombproof), she's people-oriented, she's toy-and-food motivated, and she focuses well and wants to work. She's also easy to live with (when she's not actively getting into mischief) and she doesn't destroy stuff, yay!

Sierra is in a multi dog home and is VERY pushy with other dogs. She will need very firm and consistent rules, once she has accepted a rule she doesn’t try to break it. She is an honest dog!

She’s been working on house manners, eye contact, moving attention and the beginnings of a retrieve, she has learned sit and down.

Sierra’s learned to walk nicely on a leash, crate up for any length of time day or night with minimal complaint, ride quietly in the car, and accept her mouth and all body parts being examined. She has a nice recall and an improving baby wait 6' or 8' away. She can "shake hands" and is learning not to jump up when she meets people -- a work in progress. "Sit" and "down" are default behaviors for her most of the time (to counter jumping up).

A working home where she can be involved with scent work, agility, obedience, SAR, Detection work such as bombs, narcotics, human remains, agriculture or conservation this girl will truly excel at. She will make someone a fabulous working partner.

She is up to date on vaccines and micro-chipped and is being foster in Northern CA about 2 hours south of San Francisco.
