A completed adoption application is required as the first step in matching available dogs to prospective homes on the basis of the needs of the dog and the preferences of the potential adoptive family. This form (Adoption Application - 32KB PDF ) may be downloaded, printed, and mailed to Belgian Tervuren Rescue, Inc., W4163 Cty Rd ES, Elkhorn, WI 53121 when completed. Please indicate if there is a particular dog of interest to you available on the BTR site.
This website may not include all dogs that are available through our rescue program which is why it is important that you submit an application if you are truly interested in pursuing adoption of a rescued Belgian Tervuren. BTR is committed to finding the most appropriate home for each dog; we do not place dogs on a first come first serve basis. Therefore, you will be contacted as soon as we have a dog available for adoption that suits your requested needs and lifestyle.
People frequently ask how long they will have to wait to adopt a dog. Wait time varies based on your person requirements, available dogs and/or regional location. Applications will be kept on file for one year.
At the time of adoption, the adopter is required to sign an adoption contract (Adoption contract - 28KB PDF ) which will be filled out by the foster caregiver. The adopter will be responsible for the necessary expenses associated with obtaining the dog such as transportation costs from the foster home. An adoption fee is required at the time of adoption. The standard fee is $200 for dogs over the age of 18 months, and $300 for puppies under 18 months old, or the cost of expenses incurred on behalf of the dog. All dogs will be spayed/neutered, current on vaccinations, heartworm tested clear, free of parasites, and micro-chipped at the time of adoption. BTR will also provide an appropriate safe collar for the dog.
